The Domain Overview in the Repository Model main menu is where a Nodinite Administrator manages Domains.
Domains are part of the Repository Model and are a key feature of Nodinite. There is a specific page for the Domain topic. Make sure to read and understand the basic concepts before continuing.
In the Domain Overview, you will find a sortable list of defined Domains to manage. An extensive list of Domains can swiftly be narrowed down to target by typing characters into the filter text box.

How do I create a new Domain?
Read and follow the instructions in this user guide: 'Add or manage Domain.
What are Domains used for?
Domains represent organizational boundaries (departments, business units, teams) within your Business Process Models (BPMs). They appear as horizontal swimlanes in BPM diagrams, making it clear which organizational unit is responsible for each process step.
Can I reuse Domains across multiple BPMs?
Yes! Domains are designed to be reusable across multiple Business Process Models. Define a Domain once (e.g., "Sales Department," "Finance Department") and use it in all relevant BPMs for consistent organizational representation.
How do Domains relate to Services?
Services are added to cells (XY positions) within Domain swimlanes in the BPM Designer. This shows which services execute within each organizational boundary, providing both business and technical context in your BPMs. The same domain can be used across multiple BPMs with different services in each. See Add or manage BPM for details on working with the BPM Designer.
Can I add Custom Metadata to Domains?
Yes! New 7.2 Starting with Nodinite 7.2.0, you can enrich Domains with Custom Metadata to document team ownership, contact information, SLAs, escalation procedures, and organizational context. This helps capture accountability and governance directly on organizational boundaries. See Add or manage Custom Metadata for details.
Can I add Custom Fields to Domains?
No. Domains and BPMs do not support Custom Fields. Use Custom Metadata instead for flexible, queryable documentation with better reporting integration.
